Many traditions. One family.
A dynamic, ecumenical community of faith that welcomes everyone seeking a deeper sense of what Jesus Christ means for their lives today.
Joyful, caring, and respectful
Croton Falls Community Church exists to inspire and nurture people through a joyful, caring, and respectful community of friends that leads toward an authentic, positive, and energized relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our core values lead us to be a focused, diverse, welcoming, and accepting community of all people seeking a deeper understanding of God in their lives. We look ahead while respecting the historic traditions that brought us here. Each person, young or old, is celebrated wherever they are on life's journey.
A church built on “can do”
While many churches are organized around committees, our model is a “can do” attitude that makes things happen.
All traditions welcome
Our roots are American Baptist. Today Lutherans, Methodists, Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, Unitarians, and Orthodox Christians worship side by side, sharing ideas about living faithfully in a complex world.
Worship as varied as we are
Traditional services with organ alternate with contemporary worship. Some Sundays are as informal as a tent revival, and special occasions may bring the formality of a sung Mass.
Faith that serves
We brought relief and refreshments to rescue and recovery workers at Ground Zero, and helped a Mississippi family who lost their home to Hurricane Katrina. Today we're restoring a historic neighbor, the Cross River Meeting House.
Music is an inspiring celebration of social justice. It breaks down the barriers between people of faith and people of no faith, and it lifts the hearts of all of us who believe in a better world.
What we believe
We hold fast to the essentials of the Christian faith and leave room for the many ways our members have come to know God.
Jesus Christ at the center
We welcome all who want a deeper understanding of the relevance of Jesus Christ for their lives today.
Scripture
The Bible is the focus of our study and of our spiritual growth, both together and as individuals.
Sacraments & milestones
We celebrate baptism, confirmation, marriage, healing, and funerals with a deep sense of pastoral care.
Unity, liberty, love
“In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things, love.” This Moravian precept guides how we live together.
The church is its people
The church isn't a building. It's a community gathered to worship God and to support each other.
Reaching outward
An energized fellowship reaches outward to serve the wider community and the world.
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.”1 Corinthians 12:12
Three ways to belong
We need members to carry out good governance and oversight, so we offer three levels of membership. Join as you feel led. There should never be pressure to make a commitment you aren't comfortable with.
Full Member
Votes at the Annual Meeting and any called congregational meetings, and may be called to serve on the Church Council as a Trustee, Deacon, or member of Pastor/Parish Relations. Members attend services and support the church with their time, talent, and offerings.
Affiliate Member
Shares the same voting rights and opportunities to serve as a Full Member, while recognizing that you may also belong to another faith tradition and be joined to more than one community of faith.
Friend of the Church
Welcome at the Annual Meeting and free to speak to any concern before the congregation, but doesn't vote. Friends may serve on committees, though not on the Church Council, and support the church as they are able.
How we're governed: The church is led by a Church Council of Trustees, Deacons, and Staff Parish Relations, together with Pastor Tim. Interested in joining or serving? Let us know.
Our buildings
The Sanctuary & Fellowship Hall
Our sanctuary was built in 1979 after fire destroyed the 1878 church. Its flexible space is the center of our activities, becoming an Easter Garden with a waterfall in spring and a Victorian village with falling snow at Christmas. Downstairs, Fellowship Hall hosts suppers, receptions, and social events.
The Parsonage
Our Victorian parsonage next door is well over a century old. It's home to Pastor Tim, hosts small gatherings and classes, and its parlor rooms have welcomed our English Christmas Tea.
